Steven is a
registered patent attorney and focuses his practice on
intellectual property matters including patent and trademark
prosecution. He has experience both in private practice and
with the federal government in addition to a Masters of Law
Degree in Intellectual Property Law from the
George
Washington
University
Law
School
where he finished near the top of his class.
Prior to joining Leahy & DeSmet, Steven
served as legal fellow to the House Judiciary Subcommittee
on Courts, the Internet and Intellectual Property. Steven
advised the Committee on a vast array of intellectual
property issues including the comprehensive reform of the
patent laws as well as several reforms of the copyright and
trademark laws.
It was early in his
career, however, that he developed his interest in
intellectual property law. With a degree in biological
science from the

telecommunications / computer networking industry,
intellectual property was the perfect fit to bring
everything together in one rewarding career.
While attending the University Of Baltimore

Editor of the University of Baltimore
Intellectual Property Law Journal as well as
the advertising director of the
University
of Baltimore Intellectual Property
Law Society.
Steven also served as a judicial intern to the Honorable
Arrie W. Davis on the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland,
and to the Honorable John N. Prevas on the Baltimore City
Circuit Court, Eighth Judicial Circuit.
